Sunday morning brunch for the blue herons at Esquimalt Lagoon. We counted 12 of them wading in the water looking for a snack.
In early 2017 we began the planning of a dream vacation to the Hawaiian island of Kaua'i.
Rules were altered, made up and broken many times but play continued with Norm taking the crown as overall champion
Canada Day was nice and warm so we headed out for a morning paddle and swim in Thetis Lake.
Nothing kicks off summer like paddle boarding, swimming in the ocean and lake, water gun fights and watching the sun go down after a bbq.

This morning brought just a hint of the white stuff to remind us that winter is not yet over. We've had about a week of subzero weather and that's made a thin layer of ice on the Colquitz River. Not sure if the water birds like it too much but they seem to be getting by just fine. Click on the above images to see larger versions.
After a busy, hectic week there's nothing better than slipping out early on a Friday afternoon for a walk in the sun with Oxford.
